Before Tonkin Replicas was incorporated in 2000, Jack Tonkin had already built scale models in a variety of scales for more than 20 years. The company is based in Washington state, USA, and is best known for their range of highly detailed model trucks in the unusual 1/53rd scale. In 2004, Tonkin Replicas broadened its product offering by acquiring the PEM and AHL lines of 1/64th scale model trucks from the defunct manufacturer Hartoy. A range of trucks in 1/87th scale was introduced in the same year, too. Later the company also diversified into 1/64th scale model buses: MCI buses have been released in the "Collectibus" range, and the "Prevost Diecast" range concentrates on replicas of Canadian-built Prevost buses. All models are made in China.
